You're probably gonna hafta make something happen on your own up there. The kinda bands we like usually hafta drive 9+ hours between Portland and Sacto or SF Bay Area because there's nowhere reliable to play in-between...except for Arcata or Eureka which is way off I-5 and usually doesn't work out well for bands, or maybe Chico, which also runs a high risk of "we-forgot-to-tell-you-that-your-show-was-cancelled" crap. Or Eugene, where there is a small noise scene, but most everyone else is listening to the crappiest music.
I know that there used to be house-shows occasionally in the city of Mt. Shasta. Crustpunk-type stuff mostly. But the kids that were doing that have scattered since then. There was also a house in Talent, Oregon, between Ashland and Medford that did a few shows. I went to one. It was fantastic. But it's been at least five years since I've heard a peep about anything like that there.
Last year, Eat Skull played in Medford. Only ONE PERSON was there. So that won't likely happen again.
Bands can book a show in Klamath Falls possibly, but nothing's really consistent there. Sometimes they happen in the back of the music store downtown. There's a topless bar that has bands playing, too, but usually only the worst bar-rockers. Though, it might be possible for a good band to get on there. Looks like you can play just for the asking.
I do know that there's a big electronic music festival in Mt. Shasta City every year. There's some destination studio there which is the hub of that activity. I saw a flier for it on a pole in Berkeley a couple years back. Dozens of artists were listed, but I only recognized a couple names. Still, that looks like something to look forward to if you lived nearby.
:I am moving to Shasta County in the next week and am wondering if there is anything relatvely close to a website like this for shows in that area (if there are shows in that area)
:
:I would prefer the distance be within and hour and a half but anythings better than nothing.
