June 8th SACTO DOUBLE-BALLZ!!!

Rad double-header coming up on Friday, June 8th...

Game One: a rad funtime punk rock dance party with three high-spirited bands...

BOB BURNS & THE BREAKUPS
DAVID COPPERFUCK
CONNIE FUCKING FRANCIS!

@ the 22nd Street House
(between S & T Streets)

Early start @ 7:00 to ensure this ends by 10:00!
(This way, you can bop to these rad party bands, and
then walk/ride to Fools Foundation for Game 2
with Greg Ashley, et al.)

Bob Burns & the Breakups are totally foot-tap'n, finger-snap'n punk rock from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and their guitar rhythms have that sorta deft clipped Keith Richards thing going on which sounds really rad and snappy when it's overdriven, kinda like Gregg Turner's riffs in the Angry Samoans or something. Two Sacto/Yolo-based labels have put records out for these guys including the Plastic Idol and Gearhead.

David Copperfuck are bright and chirpy and ecstatic but know how to get gnarly, and they jump around and have a bit of riot grrrly flavor with their sweet screechy puppy-yelpy PYT singer. This is extremely highly recommended to fans of Mika Miko. I've been stoked on these kids since George Chen first told me about 'em, and I can't wait for Sacto to finally get a chance to party with them. You will seriously love them!

Connie Fucking Francis have a plenty good reason for their name: They are a Connie Francis cover band! How ridic is that? You'd think that this sorta thing could only be envisioned by 65-year-olds, but the fact that this band's three members don't even add up to 65 years only makes it all the funnier. Their sound is raw budget-rock a'la Supercharger, the Statics, the Count Backwurds, early Donnas EPs, and the post-Mummies South SF Bay Area peninsula sound of the mid-90's. The fast songs are brimming with hardcore intensity.

Please donate money to these bands to cover the gas expenses of the Bay Area bands and gas expenses of the Wisconsin band, and especially to show your appreciation for all three! Bands will have things for sale, too.

I've promised to get some of the 30something people to provide beers. We'll be hitting BevMo and blowing a lot of money, and this should grease the wheels for you to donate a few more dollars than usual. We're willing to do this for the sake of making things more fun, more comfortable, and to make you freer with your donation money.

Game 2: @ Fools Foundation...

Art Lessing & the Flower Vato, El Sonido (Santa Cruz, psych rock), Greg Ashley (Gris Gris), Terrestrial (members of hot girls cool guys, the standard tribesmen, sores) + light show

$6 is a dollar more than usual, but this show promises to be great and totally worth it.

Sacto does not offer too many chances to double-dip on two great shows in one night, so take advantage, folks!
