You guys are killing me, especially El Vato Floro with the bubble bath. Didn't there used to be a punk band name after her? - Josephine Fonster's Army??

:I can't stand her voice either but the production and the songs ("pieces," would be a better term) are so awesome that I don't even notice her voice except as a vehicle and instrument. Van Dyke Parks' arrangements make all the difference here, giving everything a kind of warmth and presence and melting all that brittle faux-elf bullshit that Newsom has had on her previous albums. There's still some lyrical lapses into I-fucked-Pan-while-read-the-Wind-Through-the-Willows-with-all-the-other-forest-people territory, but I don't even mind that this time around.
