Re: Re: fools foundation, racist?

Liz,
let's just put it this way. If I was aware that an owner of a record shop was "going out with" or married to a racist ass, I simply would not buy records there anymore.

It is too bad that your lovely space got dragged into this. I enjoy going to shows there very much.

However, I will not be attending shows there anymore, until I consciously feel that this whole matter has been resolved.

Good luck to you,
"Friend of Sandra & Nilesh"

:I have to say that music shows @ Fools Foundation are not racist. I know Nilesh and Sandra are upset, but I have nothing to apoligize for. I have tried to make a beautiful place for people in this town to enjoy, not a haven for hatred against specific peoples. For this to get posted on undietacos and elsewhere is really painful and I can only hope that everyone reading this will see what the true matter is. I think it is very insensitive for the gallery to be brought into this. -Liz

:: This just in FOOL'S FOUNDATION has changed its name to RACIST
::FOOL'S FOUNDATION (R.F.F). That's right people. I heard about it
::when my wife and I went to Scott M's New Years Eve Party. We
::arrived around 2:30 AM and the party was pretty much over. There
::were a few stragglers left. We proceeded to the balcony where a
::couple of friends of ours were engaged in a heavy conversation with
::RACIST FOOL co-proprietor Eason Donner. The mood was pretty serious.
::We were just at an awesome party at the Horsecow and it was my
::birthday so I was feeling pretty good. Eason acknowledged me and my
::wife. I have met him once before and so I started with some New Year
::pleasantries. He took my tie in his hands, made some vague comment,
::then talked about my shirt to the fact it was so blue. He made some
::sort of sarcastic shallow dig. Then the hate started. Now mind you
::this was entirely unprovoked. He started in calling me " a stupid
::Indian drinking a Pabst" then a "dirty Punjabi." Then the topper he
::turns to Sandra, my wife, and says "How can you be with a worthless
::Indian like him?" At that point she stands up and slaps the fool. I
::swing a punch at him. He has this stunned look on his face
::like "What did I do?" I then threw a beer in his face. Luckily for
::him my wife started pulling me toward the door. As we were walking
::down the street he comes running towards us. I tell him to back
::off. He tries a the lamest attempt to apologize. The only thing he
::could come up with was "I didn't know the word Punjabi was offensive"
::or some bullshit like that. I cussed his ass out and left the scene.
::
:: To tell you the truth I was enraged and stunned and to some
::degree I still am. I am one of the handful of minorities in the
::downtown "scene". I don't know of any other South Asians that run in
::the same circles as I do. So I do feel a little alienated. When I
::go to shows in the Bay Area and see how racially integrated things
::are, I long for the same in Sacramento. For the most part Sacramento
::has been awesome. I have met and befriended an amazing group of
::musicians, artists and just all around cool fucking people that make
::me proud to call Sacramento my home. So the racist vitriol that
::spewed from this kid's mouth took me back with surprise. I expect
::that shit from Sac PD or from nazi skins. Hell I've been to the
::Second Level that was packed with white power boneheads seig heiling
::Sins of The Flesh. I was scared shitless but nobody messed with me.
::But that is the nature of racism. Its so insidious that it happens
::when you least expect it. It can be random as a burglary. Yet it
::leaves the victim just as violated if not more.
::
:: So my resolution for 2006. Just as the US imposed sanctions
::on Iraq and half of the world for that matter I too will impose my
::own economic sanctions. I will longer support the RACIST FOOL'S
::FOUNDATION. That means no shows, no art exhibits, none of that
::shit. I pledge to spread this information to all of my friends and
::associates in Sacramento. I'm not going to tell you to boycott
::them. It's your choice. If you were to boycott the RFF, don't do it
::because of me or people of color for that matter. Do it because this
::kind of behavior goes against your values and ideals. Do it because
::you believe in creating a community that does not tolerate the kind
::of bullshit that this guy stands for. Do it for the marginalized
::kids who come out to downtown to catch a cool band that may inspire
::them to create. Make them feel welcome.
::
::PS: The RACIST FOOL'S FOUNDATION is attempting to produce "Abu
::Ghraib: The Musical." Eason apparently has had an ad on Craig's List
::soliciting "amateur" actors. I'm pretty certain Iraqi's are not
::lining up for this great opportunity to relive the degradation of
::their people. My guess it will probably be malnourished white boys
::with Star Trek hairdo's in brown face paint. Apparently the R.F.F.
::finds humor in hooking up electrodes to the genitalia of innocent
::Iraqi prisoners.
::
::Feel free to pass this along to whomever. Comments can be forwarded
::to: stoptherff@sacbeemail.com
