why isn't this just a 3 band show?

Because
1- Most of the other 9 would headline well filled house or cafe shows on their own
2- A diversity of music is good for your health
3- Many of us are pale for lack of sunlight and would enjoy the time in the sun with burgers, brews, and friends
4- If you are that much of a piss ant you can just come for the last 3, it would still be cheaper than what you would pay in SF for a three band gig of that magnitude
