Now more about these bands....

Jeremy Jay is some sweet-breezin' amalgam of glam, disco, and indie-pop that's surely recommendable to any Glass Candy fans. Drowned in Sound said of his last album: "Californian Jeremy Jay is a man in love; in love with the romance and ritz of ‘50s Hollywood, in love with the music of Gene Vincent and Jonathan Richman, and most of all in love with the mood-lit ‘Heavenly Creatures’ that frequently appear in his swoonsome songs...A Place Where We Could Go is delivered with the minimum of muss and maximum emphasis on the thumping heart beneath. Dripping with Parisian charm and delivered with a half-sung, half-spoken dulcet vocal, songs like ‘Til We Meet Again’ and the sultry ‘While The City Sleeps’ draw you into their rose-tinted vision of reality with an uncanny ease...On the basis of this record, Jay may turn out to be as worthy an heir to the naïve-pop throne as [Calvin] Johnson was to Richman two decades ago."

Fancie is a rad lady from Sacto that I saw for the first time just a few weeks ago. She's super-charismatic and a fantastic singer and not afraid to sing. I swear it's like if Tickley Feather got together with Prince, and not only because of her "Purple Rain" cover. Members of the Alak, Alas, Alaska full-fledged band fill out the performance very nicely.

The Pets are totally 200% better than I remember them from a couple years ago. Fans of Jesus & Mary Chain, enlist now...

Green Green ...Haven't you all met Andrew yet? This charming young man makes some sweet damaged pop in his bedroom, and onstage, me and Julian help turn 'em out into some headbobbin' fistpumpers. I'm buying a new kickpedal to maximize crucialness.

Wax Museums from Denton, Texas, are the best "Killed By Death"-clone band to come along since the Clone Defects, at least. With their first LP tucked under wing just before they left for tour last week, we'll see if the verdict is "best ever"....Seriously fun/funny garagepunk with snarky snot 'n slobberiness. Amazing run of 7" records so far has driven them to the top of my list of best punk rock band today.

NoBunny is thee ultimate sides-in-stitches showman in rock 'n' roll today. He totally stole the show from So Cow at DAM House earlier this year with his hilarious rewrites and riff-swipes that make catchy songs like "Land of 1000 Dances" (or Jay Reatard's capture of an Anteenagers M.C. riff (wait, that's a swipe of a swipe?)) even catchier! He has long wanted to play Sacto because it is a magical place where Li'l Bunnies once hopped from, so expect an even more spirited performance backed up by these Wax Museums!

Defektors from Canada have a member of Twin Crystals and Modern Creatures, and they play really rad bouncy punk anthems that are kinda like the Minutemen a little bit, but even more (lemme test your encyclopedic knowledge of Vancouver punk history here) like I, Braineater. That is a high compliment that this band totally deserves.

B-Lines are speedy melodic punk that should please the many Redd Kross fiends among us.
