Oaxacan is an outstanding free psych/drone group from Oakland that has visited Sacto and Davis several times in the past three years or so. Like Kevin Corcoran, Oaxacan's drummer (ex-Caroliner) is incredibly intense and adroit and every bit as melodic as a drummer can be...kinda like Tony Oxley. Derek's guitar mines somewhere between Frith/Kaiser land and Sightings/Mouthus territory, and Davis ex-pat Amy's vocals add the ghostly beauty.

Night Nurse is Sacto's improv psych/drone supergroup of Mom's synth, the theremin charming of Chopstick, and seasoned improvisers Art Lessing, the Flower Vato, and saxophonist Chad Stockdale. For the last few months, every member has found their singular voices within the band and now collectively, they coalesce to lift you up and float you away on some kinda acid cloud to a land of cool nightmares.

Wave & Particle come from Oakland and make their first Sacto visit. They are self-described "broke wave" that is influenced by "sewing machines, toast, the gastrointestinal journey, neue deutsche welle, fruits, strings, pets, piezo discs, ralfs & florians." This seems to suggest that they'll be about a million times more fun than your typical beard-strokin' Boss-gaze band. I do have high hopes for this one!
