This Sunday 3/23 at the Firehouse….
KDVS Presents
Alas, Alak, Alaska BDRM PPL, Married in Berdichev, Whitman
Alas, Alak, Alaska (folktale recs)
Lead by Jocelyn Noir, Alas, Alak, Alaska is avant-folk explosiveness. Discordant guitar notes and impossibly beautiful vocals with band control unlike any other. So tight you think every note is secretly planned, so loose that your mind is blown.
Married in Berdichev (still soft records)
Traveling with BDRM PPL, also from Denver, Married in Berdichev is hyper-minimalist, many times only beautiful vocals mixed with feedback loops and circuitry jumping in the background. Very innovative stuff.
BDRM PPL (still soft records)
BDRM PPL takes Married in Berdichev's pared down mysterious electronic style to a much different place, something like a mellowed out dance hall. Like if Drum and Bass were funneled through the 1960's and then re-modernized for the 21st Century. Oftentimes, BDRM PPL leaves the vocals out altogether to maximize its danciness.
Whitman (folktale recs)
Self-described as noise-folk, and that's hard title to deny. Whitman strips folk down to its discordant foundation and makes sure to record completely lo-fi.
See you there!
Show starts at 8pm, costs a measly $three dollars, and will be amazing.

Firehouse is listed as "TB195" on that map, right to the east of the Music Building
If you're taking 80, take the Richards exit, go towards In-n-Out and continue towards downtown. Take a left at 1st St. (right after the train tunnel/underpass), then a left at A St., and a right at Hutchison. Firehouse is straight ahead, just after the gate/barrier thing (which you can't pass but can stop at to unload).
