the only good thing about davis are the people that live there. the city council, the police, the UC, etc. are all irreparable. take away the dam house, kdvs, and the charred dog house and you've got merced. fuck davis times a million.
the davis/sac music scene isn't astounding, but it's pretty fun for what it is- and there are only a VERY small handful of people responsible for this.
i really think what this region needs most is an untouchable diy venue that can stay running for more than 2 years. from that many great things will grow.
but otherwise, things could be a lot worse. i'm finding that california (even sacto!) is a pretty magical place compared to a lot of places.
