Here's an update with a look at some of the punk stuff happening in Sacramento in the last two weeks of January. Feel free to repost. If you want more info head over to myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows where you'll find more details, links, flyers, songs, and a bunch of other stuff.
Starting with THURSDAY, JANUARY 17TH
The Sacto Pyrate Punx present yet another great all ages basement show with PAWNS out of Chico bringing their swinging, creative political punk, plus the punkrockabilly Ill Gotten Gainz and The Scurvies who are coming all the way from Alaska to play in some basement in Sacramento. Local teen sensations No Admission fill out this unique and well-rounded bill. It all starts at 7 pm and happens at Casa de Chaos which is on 21st Street between P and Q. It's all ages and you better bring at least 3 bucks because there's three touring bands on the bill and one of them is from Alaska.
Then, its on to FRIDAY, JANUARY 18TH
where oddly enough I couldn't find ANY punk shows happening, but along comes Movies on A Big Screen to fulfill your entertainment needs with a showing of "Sonic Youth: Sleeping Nights Awake" which is an award winning 2006 documentary/concert film made by a bunch of high school students. It shows at 7 pm at the ILWU Hall in West Sac, 600 4th St., 4th and F, right across the river. Costs $5, and is all ages. If you are so inclined, they are also showing Rocky Horror at 10 pm for $6 separate admission.
Other than that, you are going to have to make your own fun, or get some rest for...
SATURDAY, JANUARY 19TH...
one of those days and nights with so much stuff to do. Check this out.....
Starting at 1 pm is the Grand Opening of Infekt Skate Shop featuring a ton of bands, plus skate demos, food, and lots more. Here's just a few of the bands gracing the two stages out there: Riot on Rosewood, Remember Scooter, Flower Violence, Isonomy, Senior Citizens, Give Me Back, The Glorious Fall. It's all ages and free, and the shop is located on Elk Grove-Florin Road across from the Elk Grove Big O Tires.
Then from 6:30-9:30 there is an early all ages show over at Inferno's Pizza with Final Summation, Dance for Destruction, Isonomy, and Down We Go from Seattle. This should be a great show, and it happens right near the corner of 16th and Broadway so there's always lots of fun stuff to do round there before, after, or during shows. It's all ages and bring $3 for the touring band.
Out at the Orangevale VFW is another great all ages show with Ruiner (Bridge 9), Vanguard (Seattle), Broadway Calls, Turn It Around, Final Fight, and Strike to Survive. Doors open at 7 pm, all ages, $10 bucks, 9346 Greenback Lane.
Then, over at On the Y is "Sabado Satanico" the punk metal alternative to 2nd Saturday Art Walks brought to you by Buried In Hell. This month you can see Shrine of Scars, Slaughterbox, Iguanadon, Hell Hunter, and Eviscerated Entrails (which are really the best kind of entrails) for only $6. Starts at 8, 21 and over, 670 Fulton Ave.
But, that's not all...the Distillery has a great bill with Helper Monkeys, Red Tape, Trackside Poets, and Vomit. 10 pm, $6, 21 and over, 2107 L St.
Over at the Stag in Woodland you can see the Blameshifters and Drastic Actions and Bastards of Young, 506 Main St, Woodland, 21+, $5, 9 pm
And, at Ugly's you can see the Beerlords, Black Mackerel, and Dead Face (used to be known as Dominion Fiend). Ugly's is at 7691 Auburn Blvd. in Citrus Heights, haven't been there but heard it's ugly.
Finally, it should be noted that Movies on A Big Screen is bringing in a special Saturday matinee benefit showing of the "The Business of Being Born" followed by a panel discussion. If you have kids or plan on having kids or know people having kids you want to see this film. It's $10 and benefits the California Association of Midwives. Shows at 3:30 at 600 4th St, 4th and F in West Sac.
Yeah, nothing ever happens in Sacramento on a Saturday...

After all of that surely you'll be ready for more and it starts early once again...
There is an all ages daytime show at the downtown skatepark with Moral Decline (on tour from Florida), PMRC, SKUM, Drastic Actions and Isonomy. The fun starts at 12:30, costs you three bucks, and you can hear great music, skate, watch skaters, and wander down to the river. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It's at the skatepark in Sutter's Landing Park, just over the hill from 28th and B Streets in downtown Sacramento.
That night there's a big hardcore show at the Boardwalk with Bane, Trash Talk (back from tour), Outbreak, Silent Drive, Turn it Around. Starts at 8, costs $12, all ages, 9426 Greenback Lane.
And, up in Nevada City is a show with a bunch of bands with long names -- it marks the debut of the new lineup of 5 Victims 4 Graves, Beards Doing Human Things, Beard the Lion, Broken Before You, Give 'em Hell, and At Dawn. It all happens at the Miners Foundry at 325 Spring Street in beautiful Nevada City, all ages, 7 pm, 10 bucks.
MONDAY, JANUARY 21ST
A rare Monday show at the Orangevale VFW with Killing The Dream, Reign Supreme, Eras, and Takeover. Doors at 7, show at 8, all ages, 9346 Greenback Lane, I think it's $10.
Wow: Bane, Ruiner, Broadway Calls, Final Fight, Trash Talk, Killing the Dream, Reign Supreme, and more in three consecutive shows. There's gonna be some hardcore lovers camped out in Orangevale for a few days.
Might as well skip ahead to the following weekend....

Not only that this show's got Cell Block 5, Lab Disaster, Drastic Actions, Nation of Idiots, 12 Steps to Nothing, and Correction rounding out the show. Starts at 7, only costs $10, at On the Y, 670 Fulton Ave. sorry kids its 21 and over which means you might want to go see....
