Massive list of great shows to close out the old and open up the new year brought to you by myspace.com/sacramentpunkshows
Now that Christmas has passed, the wealth of punk shows that we Sacramentans get to choose from comes back with a vengeance.
First, a few to close out 2007:
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28TH
It's the last Friday of the month, so that means it's time for the Punk Rock Holocaust featuring a ton of great, diverse punk bands at On the Y. Same night Java Lounge features a bunch of all ages punk with Nowheres, Mausoleum, War Tortle, and Dead Serious. 8 pm, 16th and Broadway, $5, all ages.

And, if you don't want to see music that night you can go see Meet the Hollowheads at Movies on A Big Screen, 600 4th St, West Sac, $5. or go see Rocky Horror at 10, $6.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 29TH
More great shows...
Elvis-loving (or hating) punks are sure to be at the Distillery to see GG Elvis and The TCP Band, which is a punk rock Elvis tribute featuring members of No FX, Ill Repute, Agression, Stalag 13, and the Bad Samaritans. Also on the bill are Chesterfield, The Lemmies, and FCA. Starts at 10, $7, 21 and over, 2107 L St.,
The Stag in Woodland is having their end of the year blowout featuring the best bands that played there this last year and Spicoli did such a great job of describing this show that I'm gonna steal some of what he wrote. "Nowheres -- Possibly the best new punk band inSacramento you haven't heard yet, Black Flag meets
Smut Peddlers in a no-holds-barred aural assault onyour senses. If you don't dance to this band you have no soul. Der Spazm -- Sonic-Youthy informed weird Spazm-rock,jangly and infectious noisy guitars and lots of energy. Anti-Bodies -- Loud and lewd and charged with venom, ajackhammer to your brain might feel better, but unlikely. Posiden -- A jazzy punk melange of which sounds similar to Minutemen or Sublime with enough musicality and originality to compare favorably to the former and more than enough rump-shaking rhythm to keep even the most jaded scenster interested." It all happens in historic downtown Woodland, at 506 Main St., only costs $5, is 21 and over, and really starts at 9 p.m.
And, if you want a night of stuff a bit more moody and heavy, head over to the Blue Lamp for Giant Squid and Earth. 9 pm, 21+, $10, 1400 Alhambra Blvd.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 31ST
If you want, you could go to some fancy ass $75 hipster New Year's party, but this year you've got some real punk options (including an all ages one)...
Over at the Distillery, the Secretions are hosting a $5(!!!) New Year's Eve party featuring them, Final Summation, the mighty Captain 9's and the Knickerbocker Trio, and Mission Satellite. Knowing the Secretions, they will make this an extra-special celebration that might make you think you are at some swank New Years Gala, but you'll be chortling over the fact that you only spent 5 bucks for the best party in town. It's 21 and over only, starts around 9 or 10, and happens at 2107 L St.
And, that's not all. Kids of all ages can enjoy an excellent all ages New Year's Eve hardcore/punk/oi extravaganza over at the Orangevale VFW featuring the Roustabouts, DCOI, Plead the Fifth, What's Worse, What Life Is, and Don't Trip. All ages with a bar right next door if you gotta drink, starts at 8 pm, 10 bucks, 9346 Greenback Lane, 95662. Brought to you by Slambo Rat Records. Buy their stuff and thank them for doing this.
There's also word of at least a couple punk new years house parties, but you'll have to find them yourself.
TUESDAY,, JANUARY 1st
Then, you can celebrate New Year's Day with a great all ages hardcore fest/party over at the skatepark in Sutter's Landing Park (near 28th and B, downtown). Great touring bands What's Worse, What Life Is, and Don't Trip are on this one too , along with a whole batch of locals including Turn It Around, Eras, Plank Walk, and See It Through. This one starts at 4:30, is all ages, and only costs $5. Come celebrate the new year with great music, skating, and exploring the American River.
And, since we're on a roll let's see some of the other great stuff coming up in early January.....

Only $8, 10 pm, 21+. This is yet another great show presented by Disaster Artists. Support what they are doing.
Finally, Monday, Jan 14th sees the Circle Jerks at the Boardwalk with Last of the Believers (at least one member of Rise Against). That one is all ages and costs 15 or 17 dollars which I might like to point out is twice as much as you would pay to see Social Unrest a couple nights before.
Well, I think that is more than enough. Head over to myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows for song samples, flyers, more information, and updates. Repost if you want. Thanks!
