:Thanksgiving week show update from myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows -- reposts are appreciated
:
:It's Thanksgiving week, so there's not quite as many shows as there have been over the last week or so, but there is some good stuff, so here's what's coming up punk-wise in the week or so ahead....
:
:TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20TH
:
:If wild, unpredictable, experimental stuff is how you like your punk then you definitely don't want to miss Aids Wolf with xBxRx and Terrestrial playing at the Delta of Venus in Davis. Expect your mind to be blown at this one presented by goddesses' gift to the airwaves, KDVS. It's all ages, $5, at 122 B St. Davis, 95616, this show will start early at 7 p.m. as it must be over by 10.
:
:then, as far as I can tell there's no shows till the day after thanksgiving...
:
:FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD
:
:The Hoods return from tour with a birthday show at the Orangevale VFW sure to pummel you into oblivion -- bunch of bands on this one: No Truce, Murder Practice, 5 Victims 4 Graves, Hell is for Heros, Martyrdom Cherub, and of course, sacto's unbeatable HOODS. It's at the VFW, 9346 Greenback Lane in sunny Orangevale. $10, starts at 8, all ages.
:
:There's also a show over in Ione with X-Members (former Klinefelter) and No Need (members of Uni-bombers and Konami Code) playing at the Pizza Factory, 10 E. Main St., Ione, 95640. Put on by Cheap Ass records (who'll have lots of merch at the show) this one costs $10 but that includes all you can eat pizza/soda which is pretty dang cool. It's supposed to start at 10. Ione ain't all that far, but you might want to try to confirm this one before you head out, because I'm not positive this one is really happening.
:
:SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH
:
:Couple of shows on the outskirts of town from some of the area's hardest working bands...
:
:Over in Roseville, it's one of those crazy good Whiskey Rebels + Pressure Point shows at the Old Town Brewery full of fist-pumping singalongs.. Also on the bill is Suburban Threat, Madhouse Disciples, and Shootin' Lucy who rocked the heck out of the crowd at the MDC show at the Silk Bar a couple of months back. Starts at 8, $7, all ages, 101 Main St., Roseville, 95678.
:
:And over in Woodland it is another great Saturday night show at the Stag with Final Summation, Drastic Actions, Touchie Feelies, and the So So Glos. Starts at 10, 21 and over, $5, cheap beer, 506 Main St., Woodland.
:
:Then, over the next few days there's a few really big shows -- Suicidal Tendencies, Anti-Flag, Flogging Molly -- but if they can charge $16 or $25 for tickets they've probably got the money to advertise these shows to you, so I'll focus on some of the more grassroots stuff coming up in the following week, such as...
:
:
:THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29th
:
:House party in Shingle Springs with a great lineup -- Turn It Around, Plank Walk, Eras, Plead the Fifth, and Takeover. Starts at 7, costs $5, and all ages. Address is 5671 Old French Town Rd, Shingle Springs, 95682. Folks are highly recommending carpooling and mapquesting this puppy before you head up there.
:
:FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30th
:
:The Return of Punk Rock Holocaust -- the deal with this is it's a ton of bands playing 30 min. sets and the show starts on time so you can get to hear a ton of great bands. It's at On the Y, 670 Fulton Ave. Sacramento, is 21 and over and costs 8 bucks. Show really starts at 7, so get there early. This month's alohacaust features The Swanks, Butterface, Moonshine, The Razorburns, Puke and Spit, Drastic Actions, Inferno of Joy, Anti Bodies, Shockbox and Riot on Rosewood (not in that order) -- nice big lineup full of a bunch of different styles of good music -- go and you'll definitely hear some good stuff.
:
:Also, there's a great all ages show over at the Java Lounge -- glad to see shows like this one happening there -- it's The Knockoffs, Kevin Seconds and the Altruistics, Tulsa from the Bay Area who I've heard great things about, and the first show back from tour by local powerpoppers the Boats. Java Lounge is at 2416 16th St, right near Broadway, so there's pizza next door at Inferno's, music at R5 and Records across the street, and great mags (and kids books) at the Avid Reader, so you got plenty to do between bands. It's all ages, $5, and starts at 8.
:
:Plus, that night Dominion Fiend is supposed to be playing over at the Distillery with some other folks. That one should start at 10 pm, 2107 L St., 21 and over.
:
:
:SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1ST
:
:And just to finish out the weekend and start a new month, here's a couple more:
:
:The Common Men and Der Spazm are playing at 7:30 pm at the Cool Cat Gallery, 918 24th St., downtown Sacramento, 95816. The show is all ages and should be great -- Common Men play some groovy dark post-punk stuff and the Cool Cat Gallery is a cool space -- support shows happening there!
:
:Also that night, back at the Java Lounge is a night of "Acoustic Chaos" with members of the Secretions, No Admission, Eioin Anarchy and others showing you what punk rock will be like during rolling blackouts. 8 pm, all ages, $5. 2416 16th St.
:
:And, since it's a Saturday you know things will be rocking the Stag in Woodland -- this week it's the Ghosthookers, Maxxxx, and the Lustkillers (who may or not have some famous people from other bands playing). Once again, starts at 10, 21 and over, $5, , 506 Main St., Woodland.
:
:
:There's a ton of really great stuff coming up later in December including Naked Raygun, The Cobra Skulls, Melt Banana and much more, like the fact that Crime (yes, that Crime) will be playing an all ages daytime matinee on ..h at the Silk on Del Paso with The Bananas, No Admission, Isonomy, 4 Eyes, Nowheres, Lou Lou and the Guitarfish, The Digusteens and Mick Mucus' new band uncuT: Hunks.
:
:More details myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows where you can find also find a blog with reviews and interviews about Sacramento and punk related stuff and some music to listen to by bands playing some of these (and future) shows -- so if you've been wondering what folks like Dominion Fiend, Aids Wolf, the Whiskey Rebels, Crime or others sound like, go check it out.
