Okay, folks
The Oh Sees are coming to play a house-show in Davis, and after we've paid for the Oh Sees' van rental, all other proceeds are going to Klinger, Andrew, and Chris to help them repurchase essentials that they lost in their unfortunate house-fire. By now, most of you should have heard about the misfortune of the fire that took out five residences at 24th and Q Streets that affected our good friends.

The new KDVS supergroup quartet version of the Standard Tribesmen is playing, which now includes a saxophone. I have no time for anything but a lazy review right now, but let me tell you that this lineup is really fun, dancey, and sounds like The Gories meets James Chance.

You know how the donation deal goes at house-shows...give whatever you want...but please, remember that this is directly affecting our good friends who could really use some help as soon as possible, and given all that they've put into things like doing kick-ass radio, booking rad shows, putting out records, and running record shops and distros to feed your collecting habits, I say they really deserve it. So, please give more than usual when the jar is passed your way. You'd pay no less than $5 to the see the Oh Sees anywhere else, so I propose that as a minimum level of support.
This is the first show at 918 Douglas Ave in Davis. It's a really cool house with an L-shaped living room/dining room which will make it possible to separate the skins from the punks. Seriously, the place is logistically the best and most comfortable place to see music in a house since the classic Pirate House on Anderson.

From Sacto...
(1) I-80 west to Davis
(2) Exit at Richards Blvd North/Downtown
(3) Merge onto Richards and proceed thru tunnel
(4) After tunnel, turn left at first light onto First Street
(5) Turn right at B Street
(6) Turn left at 3rd light onto Eighth Street
(7) Go four blocks and turn right onto Douglas Ave
(8) 916/918 is on the right near the end of the block
...It's easy.
