Sacramento Punk Shows -- week of 11/4/07

Yep, another week of great shows coming your way! Consider the possibilities:

++Start the week with two mighty powerful shows
++See Punkcore favorites mid-week or send a local band off on tour as they play two shows in one night
++See pornorock one night and cleanse yourself with krishnacore the next
++Try to figure out just what you are going to do on another Saturday filled to the gills with great shows.
++Hold on, Jay Reatard is coming to Davis!

Here's some of the details:

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH

Dissystema + In Haste + Laceration Face at On the Y, 670 Fulton Ave., 8 pm, $6, 21+. Dissystema is from Philly and plays really powerful crust/d-beat. They have releases on both Putrid Filth Conspiracy and Despotic, which might indicate to you that you really don't want to miss this show. In Haste is from Seattle and have a devastating thrash grind thing going on and feature most of the members of the great band Shitlist. This will be a great show.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH

Annihilation Time + Flak (Philadelphia) + Anti-Bodies at Silk Bar, 1101 Del Paso Blvd, 8 pm, $6, 18+. Totally last-minute show because their Santa Cruz show fell through, so Sacramento benefits. Annihilation Time takes blistering punk of the Black Flag variety and mashes in rockin' riffs-a-plenty and puts on an amazing live show. Sacramento Pyrate Punx got called in to do this one at the last minute and you should thank them. This will also be a very great show.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH

Z Deth, Wartortle, Masoleum + lots more, at 7 pm at the Java Lounge, 2416 16th St.(near Broadway). A fun, free, all ages show featuring a bunch of whacked out noisy fast loud chaos.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH

Punkcore faves The Scarred with great local support from Drastic Actions, Final Summation, and Isonomy at Orangevale's Greatest Venue, the VFW Hall at 9346 Greenback Lane. Starts at 8 pm, all ages, $8. A downright groovy show to welcome Final Summation back from tour.

Also that night local band the BOATS are playing two (count them 1-2) shows to kick off their Northwest tour. Both shows also include Das Llamas and The Girls from Seattle. The first on is an early show at the Skatepark near 28th and B Streets in downtown Sacramento (go to 28th and B) and follow 28th over the hill to the skatepark down by the river. The skatepark show is all ages, it starts at 5:30!, costs $3 and also includes the Losin'Streaks. Later that night, the show moves to Marilyn's at 9th and K St., and Iguanadon makes an appearance. The Marilyn's starts at 9, $5, 21+. Bye bye boats.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH
The Mentors + Torg + Knife Thru Head + Maxxxxxxxxx + Beerlords. 8 PM, Silk Too, 2942 Bradshaw Road (next to King's Skate), 18+, $10. If porno punk, rape rock, perverted punk, gore grind, scummy rock and drunk punk float your boat, this is where you've got to be.
Also, the Orangevale VFW is holding a fine all ages diy punk show with Sabertooth Zombie, DcOI, Rosevere (last show), Unit 21, and All Teeth. All ages, $10, 8 pm. 9346 Greenback Lane.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH
A night with just so many things to do, take a look at some of your options:
Sacto Pyrate Punx PA Benefit with Captain 9's and the Knickerbocker Trio + Dominion Fiend + Planetary Ruins + 1 more 8 PM @ Casa de Chaos, 21st near P, Sacramento, 95814. All ages, generous donations requested. Pure genius lineup for this benefit for the Pyrate Punx getting a P.A. so show up and hand over some money, so they can keep bringing great bands and shows to Sacramento (like the Annihilation Time one you went to, or should have gone to back on Monday the 5th).

108 -- Ruiner -- Killing the Dream -- Dance for Destruction -- See It Through -- The Seperation (ex-Set it Straight). 7 PM @ Orangevale VFW, 9436 Greenback Lane, Orangevale, 95662, $8, all ages. 108 reunites to spread a really heavy and loud krishna message with their new stuff on Deathwish, Ruiner rocks in a Bridge 9 way, Killing the Dream -- local Deathwish hardcore, + lots more good stuff. This should be a whoppingly good and crazy show, a lineup this packed rarely hits Sacramento, and at the mighty all ages VFW, no less. Bringing it and going off would probably be an accurate description of what is going to go on here.

plus there's more on Saturday....
Drastic Actions - Final Summation - Touchy Feelies. 10 PM @ The Distillery, 2107 L St., Sacramento, 95816, 21+.
Omen + Sentinel Beast + Skitzo + Devastator + Nephilim. 8 PM @ Kennel Club,5821 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, 95821, $10,all ages. When was the last time you saw Sentinel Beast?

Joe Lally + Capillary Action + The Generals & Jake D. 8 PM @ Speakeasy Lounge, 117 J St., Sacramento, 95814. Former(?) bassist of Fugazi with Philadelphia's Capillary Action. 21+

Losin' Streaks + The English Singles + The Polymers 9 PM @ The Townhouse, 1517 21st St., 95816. $7, 21+. Second Saturday with the Losin' Streaks -- while you are in the neighborhood pay a visit to the Pyrate Punx benefit and give them some of your beer/bar money.

SUNDAY, NOV 11
Pink Reason (WI) & Psychedelic Horseshit (OH) + The Intelligence. 8 PM @ Delta of Venus,122 B St., Davis, 95616. all ages. KDVS presents a weird in a good way show. Enjoy!

And I should probably mention that Jay Reatard is playing the Delta of Venus in Davis on Tues, Nov 13th with the Mayyors and Warm Streams and you are simply nuts if you don't plan to head out to that one.

And so there you have it, another week in where if you say "Sacramento is dead" you just aren't paying attention.

This bulletin brought to you by myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows where you can get more information on these and future shows, find tons of links to bands and other cool stuff to support, and read interviews and reviews in the blog. I will be out of town for a week, so there won't be any updates to the site during the next week, but this should hold you till I get back.
Thanks
