Here's my idea....
Instead of spending the evening hollerin' at each other on the internet (where the sounds not that good anyway), lets all go out and see some live bands.
"But wait," you say, "It's Tuesday night, how am I going to find a show on a Tuesday night?"
"Never fear," I reply, "Hellshock and Age are playing at On the Y, and just in case you need convincing, here are...
8 Reasons to Go to the Hellshock/AGE show
Reason 1 -- Hellshock is just one of the mightiest bands around. Their potent blend of "PDX Stenchcore" takes the crushing power of epic metal, mixes it with the speed and attitude of hardcore punk, and throws it together with great, gripping, catchy melodies. They are just a devastating band that are going to rule live.
Reason 2 -- AGE from Japan are crust legends from Japan for good reason -- galloping drums, wild guitar careening all over the place, old Discharge-y vocals -- this band rips and now is your chance to see them -- and buy some of their rare recordings.
Reason 3 -- This show happening in Sacramento is a gift! AGE doesn't even tour much in Japan, but Hellshock was able to get them to commit to visiting the States for a mere two weeks. They lined up a handful of shows on the West Coast and we are lucky enough to get one of them. People all over the country (and Japan) are drooling over this show and we get it put right in our laps. Don't take it for granted.
Reason 4 -- Great opening bands. With Wendol and Rebel's Advocate rounding out the lineup -- this is going to be a solid show from beginning to end. I have really been impressed with Rebel's Advocate lately, as they are just getting better and better.
Reason 5 -- It's a Pyrate Punx show and the Pyrate Punx do great, fun shows -- great bands, well run shows, good door prices, awesome flyers by Paul Imagine, and a really positive atmosphere for both the audience and the bands. Don't worry if you've never been to a Pyrate show before or if you don't have an eyepatch and a parrot -- those folks will welcome you and you'll have a great time.
Reason 6 -- It's at On the Y, which, other than being over 21, is one of the better places to see shows in Sacramento -- totally supportive of the scene, the bands, and people who go to shows.
OH, and here's a bonus reason...
Reason 7 -- What else are you going to do on a Tuesday night? Really now, you could come out and see two great touring bands (one of whom you will probably never have a chance to see again) and support a great show, or you could...
Wait, here's another bonus just for Undietacos readers (available nowhere else, not even on myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows)
Reason 8 -- It's sure to be more fun than flamin' folks on the Undietacos message board!"
Now that I have surely convinced you of the wisdom of attending this show, here's the details:
Hellshock -- AGE -- Wendol -- Rebels Advocate -- Tuesday, October 23rd, 8 p.m., $7 @ door, 21 and over, @ On the Y, 670 Fulton Ave. (right on the Munroe/Fulton split near Fair Oaks Blvd.). If you need more info myspace.com/sactopyratepunx should be able to help you.
Hope to see you there."
Oh yeah, added an Unholy Grave + Insect Warfare show review to the blog over myspace.com/sacramentopunkshows
Take care
