kites / russian tsarlag show needed 9/23

i've spoken with some of you about this already, but maybe someone unnamed can help.

they're looking for a show september 23, which is a sunday. i realize with fools closing this could be tricky, but i would be very grateful to anyone who can help and would personally owe you big time.

both bands on a US tour, from providence, played guitar in DYNASTY, and--you know i never say this lightly--are both musical geniuses.

russian tsarlag (formerly russian tsarcasm, comprised of one carlos gonzales, also in BYRON HOUSE) in particular is easily the best thing going in providence if not the states, though i say that in addition to having seen/experienced his numerous films, plays, and ceremonies. i'll post some mp3s when i get home, though you may have heard a sample or two at a few of those sexy prison shows. he's released a handful of tapes since 2002 with a forthcoming LP and a documentary DVD on cephia's treat.




here's the trailer, though it's mostly old tampa/bloomington era footage. if at one point this was a "noise" band it is no longer.



kites i know you've heard of, with good reason. the last time he played davis it was at the g st. pub and a lot of jocks wanted to fight him or something- wasn't there but it must have been a good set. here i've seen shows where mountains of amps are pushed into a fucking noise mosh and i've seen shows where it's almost a folk set and everyone is sitting and chilling out so i'm not sure what to expect, other than a meticulous arrangement of homemade analog joy, which christopher seems to tinker with 8-10 hours a day. and action, and brevity. he's been at this game for years and years and his knowledge and experience with all things sound always surprises me. shit rules.




together this won't take more than an hour and i promise at the least you'll walk away from a unique show, even if you hated it. contact me or carlos at deriveshmerive AT yahoo. i think this would rule at delta or 22nS or under a freeway.
