:Eat the People were included in this bill for a long time beforehand, but I think there might've been a miscommunication on the day of the week. Like, they thought it would be a Friday, but it was a Saturday. The ETP dudes were involved in a wedding Saturday, so they couldn't come to the show.

:Maybe Crimesceneunit was not a good foot to get started on. He bored me with his Corgan/Cobain channeling and samey-song-ness. I think he was also trying to be the male version of Catpower. It didn't work for me.

:Boat was fun, though. I'm not the biggest indie-pop fan, but their early Pavement meets the Joggers-style harmonizing was fun.

:Dendrites are my friends, and they were also very excited to play with Eat the People. Too bad it turned out differently, but they are great at what they do, which is somehow relating Gong to Henry Cow, and had ETP played, I think ETP fans would've had to dig'em.

:When ETP played in Portland on April 2nd, they play with Dendrites and struck up a really strong friendship based on their aural kinship.

:I'm sure they'll be back 'cos they spent all day Sunday in Davis, too, recording a session at KDVS which ruled.

:Okay, maybe they were a bit "groovier" than they were earlier this year...five-string fretless does that for a band. Hippies could dance to Dendrites. But still, there's a lot of dissonance there, and some amazing polyrhythms. And I thought the junk percussion was awesome. So many seemingly random pots, pans, and other metal crap...I thought it would sound random, but everything sounded like it was tuned to the same drum.
Yeah, The Corgan/Cobain-samey-song-ness wasn't doing it for me either.

I also thought Boat was fun but I thought they played for way too long.

The Dendrites sounded cool as well but I didnt really get to focus on them becaause the lady kept coming around with a money jar and the car horn kept going off. I think in the future it needs to be more clear that it is a REQUIRED donation and not just a donation...because I only had a dollar to give dollar and she was very displeased.
